New Zealand money guides

About Tahi Financial

Tahi Financial is a New Zealand money education site for people who want straight answers — not sales pitches dressed up as advice.

We publish practical guides on budgeting, KiwiSaver, investing, cryptocurrency, property, small business, and everyday household finance. Every article is written for local rules: IRD, KiwiSaver settings, NZD examples, and the pressures real Kiwi households face.

Who writes here

Our editorial voice is led by Sophie Rātana, a Wellington-based financial educator and former NZX retail analyst. Sophie started Tahi Financial because too much online money content is either imported from the US or written for people who already have a finance degree.

What we believe

  • Clarity beats cleverness. If a twelve-year-old cannot follow the main idea, we rewrite it.
  • Local context matters. Tax, KiwiSaver, and property rules in New Zealand are not optional footnotes.
  • Education is not advice. We explain options and trade-offs. We do not tell you what to buy, sell, or borrow.

What we are not

Tahi Financial is not a bank, broker, fund manager, or licensed financial adviser. Nothing on this site is personalised financial, legal, or tax advice. Before a major money decision — a mortgage, a business loan, a KiwiSaver switch — talk to a qualified professional who knows your situation.

If you spot an error or have a story tip, we would rather hear from you than guess. Use our contact form.
